Steve Leibson, Technology Evangelist, to Discuss Configurable Processor Cores for Media-processing Applications and Low Power Design Challenges in SoC Design

Santa Clara, Calif. – October 25, 2005 – Tensilicả, Inc., today announced that Steve Leibson, Technology Evangelist at the company, will be presenting at the 3rd Annual International System-On-Chip (SoC) Conference and Exhibit being held November 1-2, 2005, in Newport Beach, CA. Leibson will discuss “Media processing for wireless SOC applications: reduce design risk with configurable processor cores” on Monday, November 1, between 8:45 - 12:00 p.m. He will also join a panel discussing "Myth or Reality: Power Reduction at All Levels of Design Abstraction" on Tuesday, November 2, at 4:30 p.m. Tensilica is also continuing its platinum sponsorship of the event.

"Tensilica’s highly innovative approach provides customized high-performance processor cores for new complex SoC designs along with a complete software development tool environment that allows for new configurations with minimum development time," said Farhad Mafie, president and CEO of the Savant Company Inc. and SoC Conference organizer. "We are very delighted to have Tensilica in our SoC Conference and Exhibit as the platinum sponsor for the third time."

“This year’s conference focuses on SoC in wireless applications and we are pleased to highlight the advantages of Tensilica’s SoC design approach including lower design risk, the ability to run multiple media-processing codecs on one hardware core, and the ability to keep clock rates low through processor architectural tailoring,” said Steve Roddy, vice president of marketing at Tensilica.

About Steve Leibson
Steven Leibson is the Technology Evangelist for Tensilica, Inc. and is the co-author of the recently published book, “Engineering the Complex SOC” (Prentice Hall, 2004). He formerly served as Vice President of Content and Editor in Chief of the Microprocessor Report, Editor in Chief of EDN Magazine, and Founding Editor in Chief of Embedded Developers Journal magazine. He has written hundreds of articles for several electronics industry trade magazines and he has won many industry awards for his clear, detailed writing. While at MDR, Leibson developed and presented many technical, day-long microprocessor seminars and he organized and served as MC for the Microprocessor and Embedded Processor Forums. He holds a BSEE Cum Laude from Case Western Reserve University and worked as a design engineer and engineering manager for leading-edge electronics companies.
